Hi, i was wondering if anyone could share there experiences with contraceptives.
In the past i have used the pill long term which worked great but after returning to using it after having children i found it gave me ill side effects. so this isn't a option any more for me.
I have tried the implon but experienced non stop bleeding and had it removed after 3 months.
I have considered to get the marina implant but am worried i will have constant bleeding like i did with the "rod", have you found one worked for you and the other didn't?
i have considered the copper UDI but know its not common and little info on the internet about it. do you have one? how do you find it? to me this would be a ideal option as i don't like the idea of putting chemicals and hormones into my body especially with the side effect i have had with the pill.
thank you

What about the nuva-ring. You change it monthly and have total control over if it's in your body or not, so if you don't like it you take it out. As a very low dose of hormone as its released into the cervix so much smaller dose than the implanon or the pill. I just used to set the timer on my phone so I'd remember to change it once a month.
Condoms, or if your done having kids a vasectomy for hubby. I was on the pill for about 6 yrs then we started trying for a baby we've had 4 now in 6yrs in between each pregnancy we just used condoms (had no accidental kids all very much planned) and now hubby's gonna get the snip. Our last bub is 4mths old. I'm very glad that soon we won't have to deal with contraception anymore.
Hi I am the original poster, i had suggested my hubby get the snip (we have 2 kids) but he was discouraged by his doctor because of his age (25). I feel like I am done having kids but.
We do use condoms and have for 9 or so months but had a bit of a scare over the xmas season which has made me think about it.
I found Marina fantastic. Stopped my periods altogether! So much freedom :) Lasts at least 5 years. I had no side effects, but of course everyone is different. I would agree 25yo is very young for the snip - ladies or gents - lots of things can change...
I have the marina, it's been about 8 months.
I still get my period but it isn't as heavy or last as long. I'm hoping they continue to decrease over time but they might not. Everyone is different.
I always forgot the pill, didn't want the implant in my arm and since we don't want any more kids it was the best option for me.
Sine I had it done when my daughter was 6-8 weeks old I couldn't tell you hormomal side effects as my body was still adjusting/healing after giving birth.
Overall my period seems better, still a little moody during that time, hahaha.
My husband refuses to get the snip (it does annoy me but I can't force him).
