I’m a single mum who’ll be 35 this year. I haven’t had sex since I left my ex almost 3 years ago (yes I know it’s been awhile lol). I’m thinking about getting my tubes tied to prevent pregnancy in future. I’m unable to take any hormone contraceptive and condoms on a regular basis irritate me but I still prefer them. If I meet someone who becomes my one and only, I would like to make sure that I can’t fall pregnant no matter what. Have any of you had your tubes tied and still fallen pregnant? I’ve read that it can and does happen and I’m not sure if I should go ahead anyway. I definitely don’t want anymore children. Any thoughts, suggestions, advice would be helpful. Thank you x

You always run the risk of pregnancy unless you never have sex again (and let's be real, who wants that?!) but getting your tubes tied is a pretty good way to go. You could also use a condom as well (which you should be anyway due to the risk of STI's) I would go ahead and do it personally.
Oh of course I would still use a condom.... Too many STI’s going around. I will do it.. Thank you.
There is a failure rate with all contraceptives. I didn’t/haven’t fallen pregnant and most people I know haven’t fallen pregnant. The benefit of tube tying is the human error rate goes waaaaay down, because you don’t have to remember to take tablets etc.
Thank you
I’d wait until in a relationship, you might get lucky and end up with a man who has had a vasectomy 😀 if you sleep with someone in a non committed relationship you will need to protect against STDs anyway.
That would be awesome lol I don’t sleep with guys if I’m not in a non committed relationship anyway and I would request STD check beforehand anyway.
Totally worth it!!
I had mine tied for all the right reasons. I could not bear to have another child to an over grown child so when I had my third I had them give me the snip whilst they were in there. 4.5 years later I now have a baby via IVF expensive but totally worth it. I still don't have to worry about contraception and when we're ready to have another there's embryos waiting for us.
Wow!! Sounds great! I’ll talk to my doctor about it. Thank you.
