Has anyone actually stuck to their New Years resolutions for the whole year or longer? How did you do it? What was your motivation? I know it’s so cliche but I need to lose weight and save money. Need big motivation/incentive to do it and stick to it for the whole year! What worked for you? What tips/tricks did you use?

Yep! I told myself I would get my mental health on track. If I started slipping I would look at how it was affecting others and realised what I was losing :)
2021 is all about my weight and body confidence and I 100% am sticking to it. I have a full size mirror in the bathroom so I can see myself day in day out and I have given myself a goal clothing size not a weight. I won’t be stepping on scales but it’ll be how I feel within. And making better food choices so if we get takeaway I get the healthiest option!
Think about what behaviour changes you need to make in order to achieve those goals.
Without a to do list and breaking down the steps it’s just a wish list.
I find for myself making big dramatic changes never works. So I find making small changes and then increasing expectations of myself over time work best. For example my goal might be to loose weight but one of the steps is to walk 20 minutes a day for 2 weeks, and after the 2 weeks make a bigger goal.
Set yourself goals and then put a time in your diary go reasses every week or two.
Yes but I don't make a new years resolution on a whim. I have a list of goals over a decade or more. I reflect on them and decide what area I want to focus on, or needs focus on, and that's what I do.
Second to that -' lose weight' is not specific enough. (Nor is 'save money') but for e.g. you can break that down into what activity you Actually want to do. Or is it going to be diet and meal plans? You really need to break it down. What have you been good at or enjoyed in the past? What have you always seen yourself doing?
Next to that, do you know how to do it? If not you need to set out those steps to achieve. 1. Find a club. 2. Find a beginners SUP class in the local area for e.g. 3. Doing research and finding the right gear, people, routine etc might be a part of getting your goal in motion, and it's overwhelming, so break it down and work on it in small steps.
And there's no giving up. If you fall off it, reassess what you need to do and keep going with the plan.
Calorie counting worked for me to lose weight
