I'm looking into taking my children on their first ever holiday, we want to see the snow! I have no idea at all about places in Oz to go or where to stay or even if I'll be juggle 3 kids on my own at the snow. They are 12, 9 and 7. I was hoping to pick your brains and get any info I could about snow holidays, the good the bad and the ugly! Thanks :)

I'd look at NZ, might be cheaper and easier to get to, depending on where you live. My son went down to Perisher with school from Byron Bay NSW. He loooooved it! But it is a fair drive on a bus...
My ideal ski holiday would be to stay on the mountain and truly feel the whole snow experience. The kids can do lessons each morning (like they do on school trips) and then you all hang together after lunch. You can hire all the clothing and equipment plus there's the cost of lift ticket. I'm sure they'd do a family package.
You'd be fine with the 3 kids, you'll all sleep well after skiing/snow boarding all day.
If you just want to see and play in snow, Mt Baw Baw in Gippsland Vic is a small mountain, you can still ski but only a few small runs. Lots of little country towns nearby to stay and/or explore.
Mt Buller is very popular, close to Mansfield. I've been there heaps when I lived in Vic.
Bright is a popular spot, near Mt Hotham I think. I've never been but heard all good things
