Im wondering if someone could help me.
I am looking for business advice.
I have been employed as a dog groomer for 15 years, whilst my children were toddlers I temporarily worked as a groomer from home, but for the most part I have been employed by big pet store chains. I injured myself at work back in January and although my workplace has been paying me work cover, they have now announced me as a liability and have ceased my employment.
I would like to start my own grooming business, but financially this seems almost impossible. I am a single mother, I rent and am not allowed to work from home. I am also not able to go mobile due to only having a small car and not very confident towing a trailer. I have been offered the use of a shop, but I would need to buy all the tools, and I can't find a financing company that will help a start up business with no assets to secure the loan. I have worked out that $8000 will get me everything that I would immediately need.
I have thought about going down the second hand route, but I live rurally so not a lot of stuff is availablelocally, and I also don't have spare cash laying around to buy stuff like that.
Can anyone help or offer some advice?

Most state governments offer grants to start up businesses. Maybe contact Centrelink and see if they can point you in the right direction.
Can I just ask, I know it's nothing really to do with your question; is your employer allowed to terminate you because you had a Work Cover claim? Have you been in touch with Fair Work? That doesn't seem right to me, but I'm not privy to the ins and outs of the laws.
There are specific programs around to assist women in business. I've added a couple of links here. But google specific to your state.
