Maternity Bras

Maternity Bras

Hi ladies! What maternity bras would you recommend? Looking for something that’s supportive/lifts but is comfortable, preferably not overly expensive but also something that isn’t too “plain and boring”. Does it exist? Have bought a few but finding the support is completely lacking :(
Thank you!

I used to work as a bra fitter. My advice would be go into somewhere like Bras N Things or Bonds (where they have proper bra fitting training) and have a fitting.
If you feel like you're not getting adequate support, it's probably because you aren't wearing the correct size.

You'll probably pay $60 for a decent maternity bra but if you'd like to give a few cheaper ones a go, I'll give you a few tips for a good fit.
You should be able to get two fingers under the band - it should be firm but not cutting in.
The band should run parallel across your body - if it's riding up, you need to go down a band size.

Most maternity bras are wirefree but they'll likely have some boning in its place - that should sit firmly against your sternum and not dig into your breast tissue. A good guide is lining that up with your armpit.
If it's in your armpit, try a cup size down, if it's sitting on your breast, go up a cup size.

A good maternity bra should have 6 hooks, depending on where you are in your pregnancy will determine which hook to use. Earlier in pregnancy start tighter, later in pregnancy start looser.

The straps should get a finger under.
The cups may have a bit of gaping but that can be normal to accommodate milk production.

If none of that makes sense, there are a lot of good videos online showing you how to get a good fit.

Good luck 😀

When I was pregnant and breastfeeding, Hot Milk were a go to brand. Some are on the pricier side but they're lovely and fit well
