How to know when to end a marriage

I've been with my husband for 5 years married for 4 and have 2 kids together. I'm never happy and don't enjoy his company at all I blamed it on pregnancy emotions and many excuses but we never go a day without fighting, everytime I suggest parting ways he says this is how marriage is meant to be and were meant to work at it and maybe I need help and go on medication. He says if I leave I can't take our kids or anything and he won't let me get my license so I can't just leave and have no friends or family within 400kms. I recently went to stay with family just as a holiday and to get help with newborn I was gone for 2 weeks and kinda missed him, hadn't been home for 4 hours and already fighting as while we were gone he found our 2 yr old money box and spent it. I don't like him as a person we have nothing in common anymore. Do I work at it till kids are grown up or do I leave in middle of night?

He sounds really controlling! I'd be scared if I was in your position. What husband doesn't 'let' you get your license ????? He also can't keep the kids away from you. Please contact a DV support organisation.
Is there any chance you can organise another holiday with family and not come back???

It's time to leave as soon as you can safely do so, even if that means sneaking away when he isn't home.

Nope that's not normal. When you're unhappy and you fight daily, it's best to leave. You can work on it from separation if you both want to try, starting again with talking and getting to know and like each other. I tried that but even if I gave him a few hours I'd realise the problem much more clearly - he'd do everything nice, but there was total lack of connection left me feeling empty, and he'd still manage to say something nasty. Until eventually, while living separately I Realized his small times of being present were shadows in my day, and nobody deserves that, and I ended it for good.

do not stay for the sake of the kids, it will only end up hurting them more. Seeing you both fight everyday.....
If you don't like him as a person well then you certainly do not love him.

Leave and start a new happy life with your children.
