Hi everyone
I am after some advise and encouragement on parents who have or have had malnourished premie babies!!!
So my daughter is now 1 she weighs 7.7kgs!! She was born 2.2kgs 4 weeks early!! 6 weeks ago she was in hospital with a nasty virus while in there we found out she is anemic and malnourished!! I had a check up appointment today with a dietitian and they said she is doing well however she still had a bit of weight to put on!! I guess I'm just asking for other people's experiences and advise!! I'm at a point where I feel there's not a lot more I can do for her as I feel like she eats all day and she is hitting all her milestones I just don't know how I can get her to be where she needs to be! Any advise is appreciated thank you xx

Are you and your husbands families small people? It's not just weight but height/length - so look at the overall picture - you say she's reaching milestones and the dietitian's happy, maybe it's just what you say - keep feeding her all day - maybe add some higher fat (not sugar) options like bacon, nuts, avo, butter (not marg), red meat, etc, Keep working with your dietitian and pediatrician. I'm sure she'll catch up if she's meant to :)
We have friends whose child is tiny - always has been from new born to 12yo. Just who she is :)
Did the dietitian offer you suggestions to increase protein and energy in her diet through fortification? Also discussing specialised supplements with the dietitian may be useful. Has she been wormed?
My son was born full term. Healthy. He's 2, and only weighs 10kgs. Don't sweat it. All children Develop differently
You're doing an amazing job! I can tell you're a great mum. Don't stress, she'll be just fine!
All my kids are small and they were telling me my 33 weeker was under weight she will be 4 in 2 weeks and is 12.5 kg i went and seen a different ped and they took 1 look at my older 2 and said she was fine :) just keep doing what you doing.
