Hi guys,
I want to take my family on a holiday and was considering a cruise! I'm located in Brisbane so I was looking at P&O cruises as they leave from Brisbane, I did consider carnival cruises as they look amazing .. but I would have to fly to Sydney ?. has anyone had good experiences with them Or are there any other ones I should try looking into.. ? What were the inclusions and what would you recommend room wise ? Also what are your tips on going on a cruise with kids? Looking forward to hearing people's experiences

P&O are great...Although it is quite a few years since going. My family of 6 went, 4 kids between 8-12. They provide allot of activities for the kids & is always something happening. They had a kids centre as well which had all the video games etc, but the kids weren't interested. Allot of the time the kids would explore on their own, as long as they stuck together & behaved. We would meet for dinner then they usually had a show we would go see & then bedtime for the kids. Then we would leave them in their room & go to have a few drinks just the two of us.
The cruise we went on all meals are provided so long as you go to the buffet, which was amazing food. However more luxurious dining was available at a cost. You can buy drink packages etc before boarding which we did. Or you can pay as you go via your pass which is linked to a credit card.
As far as rooms we got a Double for ourselves & a 4 sleeper for the kids. Separate rooms that were right next to each other, if you book early you get a pretty good choice. Our rooms had a window view, however we found it pretty useless as with all the spray from the ocean you could hardly see out of it. & besides that your never really in your room except to change & sleep so next time i wont bother with the window view & would go for the cheaper rooms without the window & spend that money else where.
Also the staff are amazing, most are locals from where ever your visiting & are quite often the only family member working to provide for their whole extended family. Our cruise was a 7day & we got to know some of the staff very well. Give a tip & they treat you like kings & queens. So make sure you fit tipping into your budget, its so worth it & to know the money is going to those in need is a great feeling.
You have to do your own washing & its not cheap. Its better to take enough clothes for the whole trip & wash when you get home, if able.
