Camping with young children

Hi mummies. I'm a single mum and I desperately miss going camping and I want to introduce my children to the joys. My children will be 2 and 1 when I'm planning on going. Suggestions? Hints? Tips? Am I totally crazy? There will be toilets and showers. Neither will be potty trained. One on bottles. Help.

Do it! I love camping!
If you can get an old fashioned wooden play pen to take with you it will save your sanity while you are trying to cook and your eyes can't be everywhere.
If you need to go to the loo and the kids are asleep put a zip tie to lock the tent zipper closed. It will save you worrying about one of the kids waking and looking for you while you are gone.

When you get to camp ground I'd leave the kids in car seats while you set up the tent or strap them in a stroller or put in play pen same as when you are packing up.

It will be easier if they aren't toilet trained but if they were I'd take a potty.

I went solo with two kids. The neighbours all took great care of us! The thing i didnt think of is that i couldnt go to the toilet in the night. And have the pram ready for taking them all in there with you when you toilet/ shower. Its better if neither of them is toilet trained they wont need to go in the night! Dont forget your wine for when theyre asleep at night ;)
Also glow sticks help if theyre running around in the dark.

Yay! Have fun - we took my youngest when he was 4 months old. We found having a thermos of hot water overnight helped with night feed (if not BF). If it's winter we had quilts across the top of the porta cot for extra warmth. And for baths we had one of those big plastic buckets, filled in up at the showers and brought it back to camp instead of lugging everything you need up to the shower block... another set of hands at camp made this easy too. They will love it, good on you for getting yours kids out and about xx
