Night time toilet training

Night time toilet training

My son is almost 6 years old and still requires a nappy to go to bed. His nappies are so wet in the morning that they are almost exploding. I have tried waking him in the night to take him to the toilet but he will not get up.

Most kids that wet won't get up my sister had to be carried to the toilet and back to bed. She basically slept through the entire thing.
Honestly it sounds like he isn't ready yet. Night toilet training is dependent on a certain hormone being present. Drs won't take night time wetting seriously until about 8 years old.

He screams if you try to pick him up so I stopped doing it for the sake of my other son and his sleep

Im going through the same thing with ny daughter almost same age, I've decided to let her train her self in her own time. I do however assist her like no drinks between dinner and bed as well as making her go before bed, and only allowing her to drink when she eats her snacks/lunch or dinner but honnestly its only made the slightest bit of difference and to tell you the truth kids do it all in their own time so dont feel too stressed were all go through it :)

We do all of those things too. Suppose it is just a wait and see thing.

I have been reading up on toilet training my son lately, and remember reading that boys aren't normally 'night trained' until 8.
I also read that its something that can't be taught. Apparently, its a developmental thing.
