Starting my own business (escaping the retail world)

Hi. I have worked in retail for the last decade and am completely exhausted, stressed and unhappy with my job, yes it's helping with the bills and I am very lucky to have a job but it's got to the point where it's affecting my lifestyle, family and health. The company I work with is never happy with anything and always pushing for better KPIs and are unsupportive, I'm over it and have decided screw it, I'm not happy and stressed, what's the point? Beauty is something I have always wanted to get into and am looking at something that's flexible around my 3 school kids and I can do for myself, I'm looking at starting a mobile and at home spray tan business, I'm loving the idea that it's a low cost setup, flexible and I can gradually build it up and add beauty services.. I realise I probably won't be making heaps of money and that's fine, I'm really looking forward to building it up and we can afford it... Has anyone got any tips or stories on starting a spray tan business or their own little business? Thanks :)

Firstly, you should be so proud of yourself for taking that leap. For getting out of your comfort zone, and reaching for the stars.

Owning a business is stressful in itself, but its a different kind of stress when your not lining someone else's pockets.

My only advise to you would be, don't purchase anything that is not vital to the success of your business. You'll be surprised at how much it can cost you to set up if you go for the 'wants' not just the 'needs'. Once you get your clientele up, that will be the time to re-invest and really make your business your own.

I would hate to see you go for your dreams, to lose out before it kicks off to its full potential because of trying to go 'too big too soon'. I've seen it too many times, and its sad to see.

Hats off to you IM.
