Hi IMs I need some help with the right direction to choose. I am currently almost finished my ENs however I've always wanted to study midwifery.
Are there any Midwives that are also ENs or even Rns?
I would like to know if I should only do bach in Midwifery or would it be a better decision to do the dual degreee in RN/Mid? I was thinking It would still be easier for me to get a job with being a EN and midwife however now I've heard a few things about how mainly RNs/midwives get jobs before people with just the midwifery degree, is this true?
I chose to study my ENs for a few reasons
1. I couldn't get straight into UNI as I didn't have an O.P so having completing my ENs It should be easier for me to get in
2. I can work as a EN and get decent money while working towards becoming a midwife
3. I thought my 3 children 1,4 & 8 where just to young for me to go straight into midwifery with being on call to the mums you have to look after (& I only have 1 family member that can look after them during nights only, daycare during the day)
4. I thought it would be easier for me to get a job as a midwife once completed as I would have experience as an EN
Would you suggest me waiting until the children are a certain age before beginning my bach in Mid or do you think it will work ok around them and work aswell (I work part time now and will continue to work part time EN throught my bach of Mid.)
I'm sorry for all the questions I feel as though it won'twork out and I'll never get the career I love!
Thank you for all the help mummies :)

There is a FB page called The Nurse Path. I'd suggest asking there. I'm an R.N I'd love to do mid but it's generally 3 days a week unpaid work plus study. Is need a nanny I think
