laying a loved one to rest

laying a loved one to rest

I recently received a call from the cemetery where my grandmother was to be laid to rest. My grandmother passed away over 8 years ago and unfortunately at the time no one else would organise her funeral so I ended up doing this. After the funeral my mother whom I am now estranged from and I took her ashes to the cemetery where she was to be laid to rest next to her late husband. Moving forward to the present day and during the call from the cemetery I have found out that my grandmothers ashes have not been laid to rest next to her late husband and are still in storage there. I contacted all her necessary family my mother via my brother and notified them that this was the case. Unfortunately though I believe no one else is going to take responsibility of finalising this due to responses received. I have no issue doing this but what does one write on her plaque when no family care about her. My mothers response was do what you like I dont give a shit. My uncle was yes yes I will do it and has done nothing this is a usual response and common outcome. Throughout her life all these people were quick to take from her financially but now they claim to dislike her. I am disappointed in their responses but they are what I expected. Any advice would be great

You say everything you think your nan would wan you to... "Loving mother to ...." "Loving grandma to..." " enjoyed the finer things in life" or whatever that may be. Don't leave them off the plaque because they're assholes. The plaque is about your grandma, not them and if she would have wanted them on there (and given that she was helping them financially etc then I assume she loved them very much) then they go on there.
