Judging baby name

The topic of names seems to be appearing in my life the last week more so than others , yes I'm one I those people who LOVE talking names! On so many mum pages I see people bashing unusual names and even in the playground , in magazines on celebrity's names (for the record if I didn't Associate apple with an apple I actually think it's cute)
But just watching Alicia keys master class tonight and she named her son Egypt and spoke of WHY and the name made so much sense and ment so much to her, another friend of mine chose VRRy interesting middle names and I remember judging when I heard it like really? I caught up with her recently and hear the story behind it and I thought that's really lovely ,
Anyways cos I'm guilty I'm just writing to say next time you judge an "unusual " name choice just remeber for whatever reason that name resonates with them , and while your busy judging their spelling or different choice they are sitting there thing why would you give your kid a name every 2nd kid has?
And to the lady who mocked my daughters name at playgroup, well I hope maybe you read this

Everything gets criticised by someone. Don't take it to heart. People will always judge. Just be the bigger person and rise above it

I love unusual names all 3 of my kids have unusual names. When my 2 nd was born everyone critisied me and hubby for his name now 4 yrs down the track his name is in the top 10 names. Go figure, I guess it's not that unusual anymore. Everyone has an opinion on names

It's something you give your child for life. Even with a meaningful story, it should be thought out carefully. Try and see what negative ways kids can turn the name into. (Life of Pi. It was a meaningful name to the dad and turned nasty for the boy) My kids names are classed as common & they are the only ones in the school with them. No parent should mock a child's name.
