Hi ladies!
I'm a mother of two young children (3 & 6 years old) I really really want to study midwifery but I'm so worried that I'm not smart enough, maths and science were my worst subjects in school that I really struggled with, I also struggle with the idea of such serious studies and having two young children at the same time. I am so very passionate about child birth and pregnancy and would love to help other women some day but has anyone else had these struggles but gone on to finish your dream job?
Much love

Why don't you look for a maths course to do and a biology course.
There are a lot of stand alone courses you can do, it would help you get into the swing of study without the pressure and build some confidence and knowledge in those areas before taking the step for the real deal.
Thank you for your reply! I'll definitely look into this. I'm not confident at all as I struggled in school so this may help me 😊
I'm over halfway through my nursing degree with the plan to study midwifery after bach of nursing completion. I am a mum of 3 young children. My youngest was 2 when I started studying.
I to struggle with Math. However the uni offer so much support and best of all the math os fairly basic, even I can work it out.
I did a bridging course prior to starting uni which covered math and essay writing. It helped tremendously.
If I can do it, anyone can. Being an adult learner is very different to being at school. You want it more.
Thank you so much for your reply! That has been helpful and given me some confidence 😊 thank you
I was considering nursing at the beginning of the year and I had all these questions running through my head too. I've decided to wait until I am sure (as my kids are still very very young at this stage).
But the way I see it is, it's different to school and if you're doing something you love, then you'll work it out. I also think the adult mind has a bit more of a knack at working things out no matter how hard it is. At school, my mind would just be like NUP can't do that, too hard and then shut off. But we can now train out minds to work harder at the things we really want to do.
I'd say go for it. If it's really what you want to do, you'll work out all the obstacles that you meet and I am sure you'll reap the rewards afterwards. Go for it mama.
Thank you so much for you kind words and advice. You made a lot of sense! I am passionate about it and I think I'll have a good chat to my husband and go for it 😘
