Overseas Travel

Hi Imperfect Mums, I'm just after some travel advice. My daughter and I are traveling overseas very soon to Canada and we are also having a few days in the US. I was just wondering how does everyone access their money overseas , we are thinking of carrying some cash, credit card and our everyday atm card, is there a better way?
Also the flight will be 14 hours so any tips to make it comfortable? I get terrible cramps in my stomach when I do fly so does anyone else suffer that and have a way of stopping it?
My daughter is an adult and has aspergers, this is her first big trip overseas so any travel advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I’d be taking cash, credit/debit card and traveller’s cheques, as a lot of places won’t accept an everyday atm card.
For the flight, make sure you stock up on books, magazines, have an iPad (or at least earphones, depending on your airline), and plenty of your favourite snacks. Compression socks may help alleviate any discomfort. Just ensure you go for plenty of walks around the plane!
Include your daughter in the planning so she’s aware of all the details and can have a say prior to the trip, and that way all you have to worry about are the unexpected occurrences!

Make sure you let the bank know so your card doesn't get blocked. I use my regular card at atms there, I also keep about $100 cash in my passport for emergencies and I get cash passports theyre travel cards that you load and use same as creditcards.
So i keep one in my passport and the second in my checked baggage (never do this with money or real cards).

I’d exchange some money before you go, a small amount of American dollars (for tipping) and get a cash passport card to use as eftpos/credit card. You can use to get cash out of atm also. They give you a back up card too. You simply transfer money over to it, and can be topped up if needs be, also means you don’t run the risk of having your regular card lost or stolen. If you take au$ or travelers cheques, it means you have to find a currency exchange place.

Ask you travel agent about the card, and always take out travel insurance
