I am debating with my hubby as to whether or not a small tin of tuna is enough for a child's lunch as a substitute for a sandwich.

Yes that's what I have with crackers, you could add cucumber slices, cheese and tomato. Just a tin of tuna alone is a but yuk but if the kid likes it that's fine.
Maybe throw some Jatz in as well and that should be fine.
Depends on their appetite, my kids could probably eat 3 of those snack sized tuna cans in one go 😂 but if it's something that your child would happily eat at home it's fine for school. I probably would pack some crackers in too just to make myself feel better lol
I think they are fine if you have crackers or something to go with it. The tuna is compacted in the can so its deceiving how far you can make one go. I can top 4 cruskitts with one tin.

If I was going to do this I'd send it along with some biscuits, cheese, grapes, vegetable sticks and maybe some ham or salami also - so a mini platter.
Yeah I’d also chuck in something else like some tomato or avocado and some sort of cracker/biscuit to go with.
When I was on a strict low card, high fat and protein diet, I’d eat just a small tin of tuna as a snack... so I’d be able to do it. Don’t think it’s good for kids though.
Depends on the kid. Physiologically, yes it is. I'm assuming a sandwich isn't the only thing you send, so 160 calories of slow release energy from protein is great. Better than fast release energy from processed grains.
My sister is a prep teacher and absolutely hates it when the kids bring a can of tuna for lunch, they can’t open the can themselves or they make a big mess. Is the child older?
I'd worry about them cutting themselves on the can lid too (I'm a grown woman and have cut myself on these more times than I care to admit lol). I'd at least put it in a container for them!
Absolutely, it’s really not a practical lunch for little ones...sandwiches are so much easier for them to eat and better for the teachers. Personally, I would opt for a tuna sandwich or salada?
My daughter doesn’t like sandwiches so I often pack-
Wraps
Tuna and salad OR tuna, jatz or rice crackers and some cheese.
Salad
Chicken salad
Pasta and cheese
Cheese and bacon rolls
Sausage rolls
I don’t think tuna by itself is enough for lunch
Is that all your packing or is that all the child is eating? If your just packing that I’d add some other things too biscuits e.g savoys or saladas aswell as things to add to it - cheese, tomato or anything else they generally love.
Some kids eat heaps others not so much. I know That wouldn’t be enough for my son especially if his been playing, but every child is different.
Depends on what else they are taking. A couple of weeks ago my son was taking an apple, a chicken and cheese wrap with aioli, a tin of tuna with corn and mayo (tipped in a plastic container so he didn’t have to deal with the tin), a small container of pasta salad or yoghurt, and a packet of chips. Some days he ate everything, some days he would bring one or two items home. As long as other foods are being eaten throughout the day, then a tin of tuna isn’t an issue (as long as it’s tipped into a container so the tin doesn’t go to school).
