Toilet training - regression????

Toilet training - regression????

Help please.. looking for advice..
End of last year my son was around 19months and he started to wee in the garden, which was great he knows when he has to go etc - number 2's are still in pants / jocks but that's ok one step at a time. My concern now is I understand he is still young (25months) but it seems he has regressed. We were on holidays for a month. He has come back and now just wets his pants. Knows he needs to wee and will just do it in his pants. I have brought a new potty to encourage to go on there. He has a step in toilet also. Should I be concerned??? Any tips??? Is it a stage he just needs to go through?? I keep reminding he where he needs to do wees and poo. I take him to the toilet etc - it's hit and miss, depending how he feel is if he likes to sit there or not. When he sits there he will say mummy can't do it.
I'm just worried because he was really good and now I just feel is has gone backwards 🙁.
He gets not of praise when he does wees not in his pants. He wears pullups at sleep time.

I think you may have started the process too young to be honest, not only do they need to be physically ready but mentally and emotionally ready too.
Should you be concerned? God, no. Regressions are normal for toilet training and he has literally just gone 2 years old, most people are only just starting to think about training their kids at this stage!

I think at this stage though, you just need to keep doing what you're doing. It probably will be hit and miss for some time but going back to nappies after 6 months of training will be super confusing.

From my observations as a mum of a boy (and my experience in childcare) boys -generally speaking of course -don't fully grasp toileting until around 3 yrs old (give or take a little).

Just persevere, you're doing all the right things. It just takes time!

Thank you, he literally just started doing it himself and was so good at it. Only weeing in the garden tho and sometime weeing in the potty. So I just let him do it and praised him for it. He only wears nappys at sleep time.
We were a way for a month and he wore nappys a little bit more than he did when we were at home because we were travelling distances.
I was just concerned I had done something wrong to make him go backwards just wee his pants.
Thanks for your advice :) - I feel a bit better now.
I will still leave him in jocks and just keep encouraging him. Maybe cold weather is making him like this also. Not sure - as I'm a first time mum I wasn't sure.

I don't see returning nappies confusing him. He's still so young by the time he would be ready he likely wouldn't even remember going without. If you feel he's still not doing well after a while maybe a month or two don't be afraid to put him back in nappies. If he's just not learning there isn't much you can do. I tried and tried to train my son at 2 but he didn't train till 4.5 and at that age it just clicked and he understood better then a 2 year old would.
