Just got the results back from our 12 week scan. Been diagnosed with a 2 vessel cord instead of 3. The guy doing the scan mentioned it at the time, but said not to worry it just means we will have a small baby & will need some extra monitoring which we were fine with.
After our gp appointment this morning though to get the results, he said that there is a risk of chromosomal or congenital defects (heart, kidney, spinal issues etc) and that we may need to get our 20 week scan done early.
Has anyone been through this before? What was the outcome? Was your baby born ok?

This one is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question, as each pregnancy is different and the outcome can vary.
In some cases, what the man doing the scan mentioned is correct. But that isn't always the way unfortunately. It does carry a greater risk of developing problems including the one's your GP mentioned. However, both a GP and the technician aren't really the most reliable to be commenting on these sorts of things as such. I'd book in urgently with your midwife and obstetrician to discuss. Figure out a plan from here on, how to continue having a healthy pregnancy and if there's anything to avoid or that you should be doing. For some further clarification, I'd recommend having the harmony test within the next week and go from there also.

My friend has a 1 vessel. She is currently 39 weeks pregnant and besides extra scans and regular monitoring, all is well.
