I'm struggling financially. I pay $350 a week rent for me and my daughter. And I don't know if I can keep.it up much longer each week I'm going backwards. I'm going to have to dig into my savings which is only $5000 that I've had for 5 yeras sitting in there from before I had my daughter and became a single mum.
I just got a huge gass bill and a power bill. Not to mention my daughters specialist appointments I have to take her to. She struggling and falling behind in Speach gross and fine moter skills. I'm trying to get a diagnosis for her as she is quite extreme in her behavior etc.
I don't know what to do. I don't want to touch my savings as I might really need them one day.
Is there anything I can do. I've heard you can get a grant from someone (maybe centerlink) for a certain amount to pay your bills for you each year.
I don't want to have to stop her OT appointments and pediatrician appointment.
Can I claim this grant if I have money in my account even if it's not that much.
Does anyone know about this or how to go about it who to call etc.
I would love to just go and get my hair cut that hasn't been cut in over a year. I have holes in my shoes. It's so embarrassing. And I can't get my daughter what she needs. I feel so poor and just likw I can't get ahead. I feel so depressed.

Please, contact a local Salvos or Vinnies and do some op-shopping. You can find amazing things that will have you feeling like a million bucks :)
Have you looked into the public system? The wait list can be long, but it's worth going onto it for long term. Just to help with your daughter's appointments.
Gosh sorry to sound harsh but alot of people don't even have 5K in the bank! Use it to pay ur bills and what u need! Now is the time that u need it for! You won't qualify for help with that amount in savings!
Use your $5000...it's what it's there for! Keep the grants for people who don't have that back up.
Use your savings before looking for charity.
Look for a cheaper house. I was paying a bit more than you a week and it was a real struggle, I moved to a smaller place for 200 a week and it was a massive relief. I was able to keep up with my other bills and could afford to go to the movies or eat out every so often too. You could probably look at your other bills to see if there's more ways to save. Get your appliances checked to see if any are chewing power, sometimes forking out for a new fridge will save you money in the long run. Pretty sure now is one of those times when you need your savings. Good luck.
None of us ever want to have to touch our savings. But we have them there to touch them when we need them. Use it to pay your bills and downsize to a unit or similar since it's only the 2 of you. Our gas and power is always higher towards the end of winter. It takes a special kind of bravery to get out of a hot shower into a freezing cold bathroom so showers end up being a little longer, the air con runs for a few hours morning and night to keep us warm. Are you working? Can you pick up some extra shifts or a part-time job to bring in more money?
Your savings are for a rainy day, today it is raining.
What I wouldn't give for 5000 in savings! I don't have 100 in savings! We live week to week, we pay little bits off bills every single week so that when they come in, we're not totally screwed. No i'm not a single mum, but I also have 4 extra people in our house to pay for, and only 1 income. I literally pay little bits on electricity, gas, water, recycled water, land rates, strata, car and house insurance, phone bills, internet, every single week on top of our mortgage. Honestly hun, now is when u use your savings. Get in front of your bills and then implement a weekly amount to pay so u stay in front. Look at your average bill amount, divide it by 12. That's the minimum u party every single week. You're not going to be given any charity with that amount in savings.
What????
You have 5k there and would rather stop your daughters necessary appointments then use it?
Moving costs money, time and energy people!!
Get into the public system for allied health services, if child is under 7 shouldn’t be too long of a wait.
Get a good paediatrician. Kids under 7 can access Ndis without a diagnosis but must have reports and letters to show where function is impaired.
I set up weekly or fortnight payments of rent and all bills.
Use op shops and food banks. Talk to community centre or st vinnies or salvos for assistance.
Oh and use $3k for essentials. $2k is still a good buffer if need a washer or car service
