Why is it so hard finding a decent psychologist? I called a few places to try to make an appointment with a GP referral. 1 person I called could only see me in a small window, in a office that's 50min away, one was so rude on the phone that I knew she wasn't the person for me, 2 could only see me during the day (really hard if you work!!) and 2 said they no longer accepted new patients. Just so desperate to get some help but finding it really difficult.

It is really hard if you work, but they too have a job to complete and have the right to go home to their family at an appropriate time. However, almost all psychologists I know do have a small window available on a Thursday evening or sometimes mornings on a Saturday.
Finding the right person is hard, however your GP should be ensuring you have someone to see in a timely manner. There's local services in the meantime to help you, such as Inspiro, Headspace, 13 11 14 (helpline if desperate).
Even ask on a local FB page of some recommendations :) and I'd go back to your GP and insist that they have someone see to you ASAP
I totally understand about times etc but it's hard when you search for a psychologist and on Aust Psychology Society they specifically list being available after 5pm and weekends and it's not the case at all 😔
Try and take some sick leave or speak with ur boss and tell them how much u need to see someone!
