So I am only 14 weeks pregnant but I am freaking out to say the least. I have only had my current job for 6 months so I really dont want to tell work I'm pregnant because 1. I feel guilty and 2. I dont want them to cut back my hours when I have only just built myself up enough to survive. (Casual community care worker)
How did others let there boss know they were expecting?
Also to be eligable for the goverments maternity leave I have to be in this job for a minimum of 10 months. I'm happy to work right up until my due date but what are the policies around this? (Full term will be 13 months in the job)
When do I apply for maternity leave? Once the babies is here or a couple of weeks before?
Money troubles are a huge thing for us atm and I'm honestly so sick and tired of thinking about how we will survive! My partner is just as stressed as me but he prefers to ignore the situation and take each hit as it comes where I am over planning and analyzing everything that could go wrong (work cutting back my hours when they find out etc).

1. You don't need to feel guilty about being pregnant
2. They cannot cut your hours back due to you being pregnant
So don't worry about those to, first up :)
I just told them out and out, straight up. No nonsense about it, sat down and said I'm pregnant. 6 weeks along. They can't do much about it haha!
How many hours are you working currently? As to be eligible, you need to be completing a certain amount of hours per week I think. You apply prior to baby's birth and upload documents once born. https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/parenta...
Have a good read of this, everything you require is in there :)
