Starting Uni

Starting Uni

Hi all,
I am currently working full time and am beginning my uni ready course through Curtin part time. I already have a laptop, notebooks, pens etc but do not have a desk. I keep a lookout on my local FB page but being in a small town, it doesn't offer a lot for selection. We do have a Harvey Norman in town though. Would it be worth getting one there? They seem very expensive.
Also, are there any tips any one has for starting university that they're willing to pass along?

Try Officeworks online...they deliver and are so much cheaper than HN!

I would invest in a large white board, or in my case 3! I found them great for studying for an exam. I also have a white board organizer that I have in my office that highlights when assignments are due.
I loved my laminator. I would laminate study cards and put them around my house.
I also have organizing stack trays, one for each unit I was studying.
Lastly get yourself a good quality printer/scanner. You WILL need this. Finally good luck :)

ps. I barely used my desk. I prefered to bring my laptop to the comfy couch or my bed! Thats where i studied best.

Thank you for your reply!
Did you get the larger whiteboards or smaller? Also, what is a whiteboard organiser?

I actually own 7 white boards, 3 large ones, 3 small ones and the whiteboard organizer. However its the large ones that i found useful.
The organiser is from kmart. It basically has rows/columns with monday-sunday so u can organise your week.
Office works have monthly ones.

I had a desk but barely used it.
I preferred to study at kitchen table or couch/bed.

I’d maybe hold off buying a desk until you see how the first few weeks go and where you like to study.
