I’m just wondering if anyone knows if pregnancy tests have a cut off as to when they will show a positive result? I recall reading the paper in one years ago that said it will not work if the person is more than 5 weeks pregnant. Does this still apply? Has anyone greater than 5 weeks had a positive result?
Thank you

Hey love, there is no cut off. You will show a positive pregnancy test through the whole pregnancy.
A pregnancy test is testing for HCG. Human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone produced by the placenta after implantation. Its present through the entire pregnancy.
Perhaps what you read was a test may not show a positive in the first 5 weeks of pregnancy, that can be due to the HCG levels not being high enough for the test to detect.
Pregnancy tests test to see if you're producing the pregnancy hormones. The higher the hormone levels, the clearer the reading on the test.
The further along in your pregnancy you are, the quicker the positive line will come up.
Whatever you read in the paper is wrong.
