Dear sisterhood..
I need some help.. maybe asking your husbands..
Recently separated and our only heating is wood fire... obviously being an independent woman i have got this..dont have family close by, mostly single mum friends.
But i need some wood cutting 101.
I need to purchase a new chainsaw... we live in a small rural town, we do have a stihl shop. ( obviously want advice from someone not making money out of me with a bit of best interest at heart.)
Any advice.. we live north vic.. not really sure where to cut.. but also can't really afford the abundance it has cost me previously.
Also only renting.

Have you asked locally? I've been in the tropics forever so probably no help but I think there would be a local person that delivers cut wood in bulk on the cheap.
And please don't start your independent woman post asking women to ask their husbands 😂😂
LOL!!!
Rural north vic lady here 🙋♀️
You go to your local council and ask for advice. I think they give you the permit and instructions on where you can go to cut wood.
Otherwise lots of people sell firewood per trailer load already split. When I was a single mum with a wood fire, thats what i used to do.
You can get bags of kindling from the servo station too.
Ask on your local buy sell swap who is selling fire wood and who can give you a quote per tonne. Save your $$ on the chainsaw and get it alreeady split
Probably better to buy it by the trailer load, Bil does it for $100 a trailer load. By the time you take in the costs of finding it, fuel, time, cost and maintenance of a chainsaw, the effort involved it is probably much more viable just buying it! They also sell those recycled log long burners or whatever they are at Bunnings, as well as big bags of wood but its crap.
Split dry red gum 👌👌
Thats what she needs lol
And i agree. If u go into the forest with your permit you only have a certain area (not sure on size of the area but its not big) to cut wood from and its only from alresdy fallen trees and you will need a ute and or trailer and its a really big crap job and im an independent woman too but let me give some local some business this winter and buy some alrealy split wood 😂😂
Had to have a laugh, sorry.
* I'm a strong independent woman, I got this *

* Ladies, ask yo husbands for me *
I know it's not what you're insinuating, just had to laugh :)
