So how bad is the job market at the moment??
Is it as bad as it looks??
I’ve been out of the workforce for over 9 years raising my kids and now as my youngest heads to school next year,I will need to find a job,
Life is getting expensive, I’m not talking about having luxuries either, just hard to make money stretch on one income,
I’m looking to get into aged care on a traineeship but not sure how that will go,
I’ve looked on seek etc just seems like there’s not much around,
I don’t have any extra money to study so really just not sure how to move forward,
I’m in WA

Get on LinkedIn as well as Jora, Seek, Indeed... There's more avenues than there used to be. It is more and more about WHO you know than ever. Get your resume up to scratch. Look into Aged Care study (you may be eligible for govt assistance for it). Start getting your name into those aged care places so that you're top of lists when you are ready to jump in.
I don't want to make it seem like it's hopeless, I'm in a different area of the country with a completely different job market but I was forced into finding a new job this year due to redundancy (after working steadily for 5 years after having my one and only daughter) and it was one of the worst times searching I've had - I applied for literally hundreds of jobs, I was not being picky, and I barely got replies, let alone interviews. Things are rough right now.
All of that being said, aged care is a growth industry so it's a good one to aim for.
There is a lot of work in the disability field at the moment. Support workers are in high demand.
It's bad here in WA, even jobs like cleaning and stacking shelves have heaps of applicants per job. I know you say you have no extra money but you really are better off studying now so you have more skills to bring to the table when you apply.
I’m in nsw. I do not know of any traineeships for disability.
Also, disability work is not very flexible. As in, you need to be here at x time.
So, if you need flexibility, not the job for you.
I think you need to think differently. What do you want to do with your life?
Maybe try a retail job, or a kitchen hand or something plain and simple until you can find your passion, then chase the dream.
If money is the bottom line, then any old job will do. You could increase your employability by having up to date first aid certificate, but ultimately, there’s usually a job somewhere if you lower your standards, don’t look at seek. Majority of employers don’t advertise through seek. Check your local FB page, or approach businesses with your resume.
