I came from a big family that had large gatherings on Christmas day. As an adult it is just a few of us and only 2 children in the family... It is underwhelming. I am looking for suggestions to inject some excitement and enjoyment.... How do you celebrate Christmas differently?

We have to do the bloody extended family lunch/day blah... But boxing day we are going camping for a couple of nights and this is our new thing
Adjust your thinking. You can have a blast with a small gathering! It’s not the number of people! It’s the quality of the people! Plan some games. Play some music!
Invite some back packers along or put a call out for anyone spending Christmas alone to come and spend it with you. I spent Christmas alone when I was 18 and on the other side of the country to my family, I would have loved to have been invited along to someone's Christmas lunch and activities! I used to work with backpackers too and would invite them to my place every year, they love to see how we live and Christmas in Australia is very different to the rest of the world, they love it. It's a really fun day with people from different cultures and finding out how they do things differently.
