I was thinking they were a bit lame. I'd also try engage him in conversation. I.e. any plans for the weekend etc? Try run into him outside of his workplace. It's really bad form for him to be arranging a date/hookup at work and putting him in a rreealllly awkward position to decline you if not interested.
What makes you think he's interested? Checkout people have to be nice so just make sure you're not confusing the two. I honestly wouldn't be giving him your number or hitting on him at work as it puts him in an awkward position. Do you even know if he's single?
