Hi,
Has anyone ever done drug tests on their employees without hiring a contractor to do it.? I work in another company where someone comes in and does it for us, but we also own a trade type business and I would like to start randomly testing our employees.
Does anyone know the best place to buy the kits.? Also my rights as a employer and any other info that’s relevant to this.?

This was the first website that came up when I googled it and it has a lot of information https://drugsafe.com.au/when-drug-alcohol-test-employees/. You should also contact Fair Work Australia so you know both your rights and your employees rights - that would also cover if you’re allowed to test employees yourself
You will need legal advice
I don't think you can do it yourself. You could be in a world of trouble if you fired someone over a false reading. Pathologists are the only way to go. You can get a breathalyzer though
Sorry but it's illegal to do it yourself. If you intend on doing this you need to get a contractor in and in needs to be stipulated in employment contracts with extensive policies and procedures in place first. If you do go down the track of doing it yourself you leave yourself open for legal proceedings for those you fire for false readings, as do it yourself tests are not accurate
