Struggling to fall pregnant

Struggling to fall pregnant

I apologise in advance if this triggers anyone as I know it's a very sensitive subject -

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for two years, and we still haven't had any luck getting pregnant. A bit of background: I am 27 and he is 29, I've had a child before and this would be his first. We are thinking we might need a bit of help with this - what would be the next step for us? Thank you x

Hey! I’ve been through the same thing.

First point of contact is your GP with a referral to a fertility specialist. You’ll have routine blood tests every week to check ovulation and progesterone levels. Then internal scans to check your follicles, tubes etc and find out why it isn’t happening. Husband will have sperm checked.

Then go from there - might be medication necessary :)

Good luck!

You need to get your husband to do a sperm analysis. You should be able to see your normal doctor for this. If his sleep analysis comes back good there’s a chance you are suffering from secondary infertility. You could see a fertility specialist. You’ll need a referral from your GP to do this.

You can then see the specialist. They’ll test your hormone levels and AMH levels. AMH levels cost about $60 as they aren’t medicare rebates.

They will do ultrasounds and will check your Fallopian tubes out.

Having sex every second day is also something to start trying.

I fell pregnant with my 3 older children on the last day of my period. Make sure you are taking care of yourself and your health. If you are over weight it could hinder your ability to fall pregnant. I’m not saying it will as many over weight fall pregnant as underweight women.
