I’ve given in and decided to get my 3 kids a dog. Just wondering what the best breed would be? Nothing big and hypo lol, as I know the kids will eventually leave everything up to me to do lol. Thankyou

It's going to depend on what your lifestyle is like and may not be a breed thing specifically. I know a lot of rescues do medium-term fosters so they can see what that dog's specific needs are and can match a dog to a family. But in general, think about your day-to-day life, how many hours a day your dog may be alone, how much exercise it needs, how big a yard, how tall your fences are, age of kids, whether you want a pup or an older dog etc.
We got a dachshund pup last year and while he's lovely, very sweet and affectionate, loves people and only needs about a half hour walk and some play each day, the puppy stage (much like baby and toddler stages) is brutal and getting through the biting/mouthing, toilet training, cheeky behaviours like stealing socks and eating them, digging and barking is exhausting. He also doesn't do well alone, so I need to find a job that's close to home or at home which is really limiting.
So definitely do your research on the breed and/or get in touch with some rescues so you can find the right dog for your family
Have you ever owned a dog before? There are some really serious things to consider like food and vet bills, training, registration, toys etc. It'll also depend on the age of kids and if the dog is to be left home alone a lot.
Adopt a middle aged lab or golden retriever
We have a bernadoodle mini. She is anti allergic and the most intelligent and easy to train puppy! Highly recommend them
My personal favourite breed is a kelpie but not the best breed to get if you think the kids will get bored of it, they demand stimulation or they wreck your shit lol. I would go for a little lap dog, like a Maltese or daushund, mini poodles are cute too.
It really depends. If you want it inside all the time a lab or retriever means you’ll be cleaning hair all the time, off of everything.
Poodles and poodle crosses can be low shed but high energy!
I’d avoid anything that’s typically a working dog. While they are beautiful animals they need a huge amount of mental stimulation.
Do you like to go on hikes or runs and want to take a dog with you? Or is a lap type dog more appropriate?
Best dog temperament wise I've ever owned is a purebred English staffy. He was bombproof. Kids were never allowed to be assholes with him but if I wasn't watching and one laid on him, or was poking his face, or pulled a tail he just took it all in his stride. Including nieces and nephews, not just kids he lived with.
He even played daddy to a litter of pups after I rescued a pregnant bitch and bought her home to have her babies safely.

Ask the people, most will be happy to talk about their dog.
We go to 2 main beaches, it’s like a dog show some days.
We have 2 Dalmatians (Male and Female)
Probably wouldn’t recommend them as a breed, lots of work.
We think they are amazing, but not for everyone
A beagle they are the most loyal loving dogs I’ve ever owned we had to work hard in her puppy stage to teach her not to chew the entire house apart but ours is 3 now spends all day between the house and yard when we’re not home and does not touch a thing but very very loyal they are also great at being alone for a long time.
Boston terriers are great with kids and so adorable with funny personalities.
I would go a smaller breed like a chi, Malteser, poodle or English staffy( we Have a mini staffy and she is the best family dog ever :) we also have a boxer but they are big but also think they are human
Just wanted to put the idea out there that while I hate the idea that there are so many abandoned dogs that deserve a loving home, please keep in mind that you don’t know what that dog has been through. And the fact that it will be a family dog around children who aren’t always gentle (generally unintentionally), could trigger something in a dog if they were abused and cause them to attack.
