Single parent renting

Single parent renting

Im a single parent and have been living with my parents rent free since our split last year. I'm going to have to move to Melbourne CBD in a little unit somewhere. I have job prospects there. Will I be accepted for a unit or do you think I will have to prove previous rental history? I have lots of savings. I'm scared I'll keep being denied for rentals and we won't have anywhere to live. What do real estates look for when they look at applications? Thank you

I would try and secure jobs already.

They will want to look for stability, a career (to continue affording rent), ability to pay a few months upfront.

Unfortunately it’s a competitive market in Melbourne so I would definitely try to have a job already before applying :)

Stay there, keep saving and go for the new single parent home loan. Buy yourself a unit or townhouse and set yourself up.
