I've been wanting a career change for quite some time and really want to get into an industry of caring for people, in particular I have a passion for after life care. I would like to get my foot in the door to eventually become a mortician. Thing is, it seems near impossible to find out where you start or what qualifications I would need. I guess I'm asking if anyone here happens to be a funeral director or knows a funeral director that may be able to help me out.
Thank you

My son works in a mortuary and he got the job by just applying with a funeral home that was willing to train him. There are courses you can do but most homes are family businesses and they don't mind training people themselves. Just approach local homes and tell them you're genuinely interested in joining the industry but have no experience, if they're ever looking for someone in the future to please keep you in mind and hand over your resume. There aren't a lot of takers for that kind of work at the moment either so if they have positions available you have a good chance of getting a job.
Thank you I will definitely do that, I've emailed a couple only yesterday, hopefully they will get back to me
Follow up with a phone call. Your interpersonal communication is essential in such a job, so they need to hear your voice and know you are confident in uncomfortable situations.
Just phone one?
Where are you based? I know of one looking for staff. All training provided.
