Amen! We also ended up with a middle ear infection to top off all the other sicknesses going around.
My whole family is just getting over RSV. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy!
We actually worked it out the other day that someone in our house has has some kind of ailment since we contracted covid a few weeks into the school year, with maybe a week between bugs if we've been lucky!
It's because two years (2020/2021) of isolation, social distancing, fanatical hand washing and disinfecting/sanitising every surface humanly possible has implications.
People are no longer keeping their sick kids home! I work in childcare and I’m so over the green snotty noses. So many kids are being dosed up on Panadol or nurofen, and demazin/dimetapp/some other antihistamine and sent to childcare/school. Then by lunchtime the medication is wearing off and it becomes obvious that they’re not well.
All you can really do is encourage good hand hygiene and to cover coughs and sneezes.
My kids went through a stage like this when they were little around 2-4, now they're 7 and 11 they're rarely sick at all!! They will catch a cold maybe once or twice a year if that! I feel like it's a stage all kids go through to toughen up their emune system. Obvestly when one gets sick the rest do then you do and it goes around for months, it's a pain in the but!!
It is from the last 2 years of distancing, hand washing, mask wearing everyone has avoided the usual bugs that go around which also build immunity. Now that life is back to normal kids are catching everything because their immune system is not as strong. Covid years had really low numbers of contagious illnesses because of how careful everyone was.
I have to agree with the others and also believe it’s the 2 years we sent in isolation and with masks. My kids have been so sick with everything. We’ve had RSV, and parainfluenza just to name a few. Parainfluenza saw my little guy in hospital on an NG feeding tube and oxygen. Really scary because while in hospital ended up with pneumonia that took months to get rid of and see him back to full health. I think they’ve had runny noses for over 4 mths now. Just seem to get better and BAM sick again 😫
