Hey all, so I'll keep it short and sweet. How do I look better clothes wise??
No matter what I wear I always just miss the mark or I look like a try hard!
I dress nicely, i take a lot of pride in how i look, I know how I want an outfit to look but it just never does?!
I buy quality clothing, thinking that would make the difference but it just hasn't. I Don't follow trends to the point where I'm wearing stuff I don't like or I'm not comfortable in but my outfits never look effortless, hope that makes sence.
Just looking for some advice without being ridiculed.
(Just want to add on - I'm not vain, I just take pride in how I look and would like to look better, thanks for being kind)

This would depend on your body type. I'm short with a fat belly so I try and dress to disguise that a bit. I used to think long tops hid my belly but they just made my legs look even shorter and I used to like wearing straight leg pants but they made me look bigger. So tailored pants a flowy top that sits at my hips and I like baggy sleeves to hide my arms, if not I wear a light long sleeve cardi over it and leave it open. I like black, pink, dark green, grey.
I think it’s accessories like shoes/watch/ jewellery/ sunnies. for me the key is in having plenty of variations of those staples - jackets/coats/wraps, jeans, skirts, shoes/sandals/runners, sunnies. Then you have the choices all there to pull together different looks.
If you struggle, find a look you like and copy it head to toe. There are lots of Get Ready With Me women on TikTok, find one you like and copy they even tell you where to buy the clothes.
I agree with this comment. I used to go into clothes stores and just buy the outfit on the mannequin, as I had no confidence in my shopping abilities! I do online shopping now and if I buy a top I look at what else the model is wearing (pants, shoes etc) and try to copy that
