Study at Uni

Study at Uni

I'm a single mum & heading towards 40. I want to study a uni course this year & am considering a Bachelor of Social Studies at UNE, online. Has anyone studied this, or something similar? Has it led to great & interesting employment opportunities? Would love to hear the pros & cons please.

Edited to add: i currently work permanent part time 3 days a week. Never been to Uni before so don't know how i'd cope with full time study but that would be the preference (finish quicker).

Undergraduate degrees have a lot of subjects, will you study full time?
Given the amount of subjects, I would not recommend part time, it could take you years to finish.
Can you maybe work part time to supplement income, maybe on weekend/a couple of nights a week?

Good luck lovely, as the lady said below, there is summer semester as well, so you don't necessarily have to do full course load during the year to finish on time. Full course load is 4 subjects per semester.
You sound enthusiastic, I'm sure you'll do great and have a great career waiting for you x

I studied online, I have studied through UNE as well, they are leading the way in online study, definitely recommend.
The great thing is that you can enrol in as many courses as you want each semester. So just starting out, maybe do 2 and see how you go. Then you can decide if you want to increase or decrease your load each semester, depending on what you can manage. If you want to power through you can set yourself to do 4 and knuckle down and get them done. There is also summer units and intensives to help you get it done in less time without the full time load. Best thing I did was start my uni course. You can change as you go and choose majors as you work out what you want to use it for. I am in a really fulfilling career now, and the best thing is that in your forties with life experience behind you, you can handle things and people assume you’ve been doing it a while, I feel I skipped that newbie phase of innocent mistakes and really high stress that I see young graduates go through in their first few years. And being realistic, from 40, we’re still going to be working for another 25-35 years and if you’re in a career you can see yourself working in later in life that’s a bonus.
