Temp work rights.

Temp work rights.

My Daughter has been travelling in Australia and needed a job. She has a work visa so got a job doing boat tours in Queensland. The company owed her $3800 but she was only paid $800 and now they aren’t answering emails, she’s got a different job but not far away. Does she have any rights? It’s a shame as she been having a great time but seems to be being taken advantage of everywhere. I feel really sorry for her.

There are some businesses that take advantage of backpackers in Australia, I've worked at a few myself and they're the ones through covid that complained about not being able to find staff because Australians are lazy, umm no they don't even advertise properly if at all and Australians know a dodgy workplace when they see it because we know our laws and pay rates! Yes she definitely has rights if you search "report pay dispute Queensland" it should lead you in the right direction. There are also backpacker FB groups that are good at helping to find the good places to work and which ones to avoid.
