...from a survivor

This is a wonderful community that enables IM's to help and ask for help in a safe environment. It's a place that allows us to learn from each other and to support each other.

I would like to ask a favour from this community. Before you post a reply I would like you to think. There are questions posed on this site that can be of a very sensitive nature and they can be triggers for people that are survivors of these situations. Be it Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse or something else.

I say this from experience, the questions themselves may not be the trigger, but an insensitive response, from someone well meaning, but not thinking can trigger emotions that can be hard to deal with alone.

Everyone has a right to their opinions and thoughts, but please before you respond to any question (and especially the sensitive ones) please re read your response and think how that response may affect someone else.

Thank you.

I agree! Before I write my question I ALWAYS feel the need to say no negative judgement or criticism because some women don't realise the effects their words have when they've never actually been through the situation themselves.
