My mum has cancer

Hi loves.

In December my mother (62) was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s spread pretty much all over and we’re focusing on quality of life and enjoying what we have left.
I am my mums carer - she is still living alone and can manage day to day house things/ personal care.
But she relies on me for all appointments/ medication pick ups, advocating for her at appointments etc

Of course I’d do this 2763736363 x over for her. She is my mum, i love her and I just want her to be okay.

Thing is.. I’m feeling so burnt out already.
Frustrated, angry, crying.. it’s still so easy and i know it’s going to get so much harder.

What support is out there for us? She isn’t able to get support though my aged care as she isn’t 65..

I don’t even know what support or help we would need.. but I’m thinking i start exploring my options.

Thanks x

Link in with the cancer council. That’s what my mum did when my Dad was diagnosed. They were a huge support both to Dad and her and will be able to give you information more specific to your circumstances

I just lost my mum to liver cancer. Watching her suffer in pain, was heart breaking. We all pushed for treatment even though it was only holding off death for a short amount of time, but in the long run, it just made her suffer longer then nessasery. The treatment was worse then the cancer itself.

Talk to the oncologist, they can point you in the right direction for palliative home care. In the end we had them come around daily in the last week. It's covered by Medicare in auatralia
