Quitting cold turkey in pregnancy

Hi mums!

I’ve just been surprised by a positive pregnancy test! Completely unexpected and only very early days, but the problem I’m having now is that I’ve been vaping prettyheavily for the last few months. I feel guilty but can’t change the past. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I threw the vapes away, I just can’t bring myself to cutting down and will have to do it cold turkey.

Has anyone else quit cold turkey after finding out they’re pregnant? Any tips to be more successful? I would appreciate any help at all, I know it’s not going to be easy and I’m feeling the effects already, but I’m determined.

I quit smoking cold turkey when pregnant but it made me feel sick so i guess that made the job much easier! Replace it with something like chewies or a nice drink. Keep yourself really busy, nows the time to spring clean, clean up your yards, enrol in a first aid course, sort out anything you've been putting off.

I have. Choose the right time so the first few days are successful. Count in threes. The first three days are hard, three weeks you’ll have a dip again, and three months you’ve made it.
Remember if you give in, it’s a stumble - DO NOT stop your quitting journey. Just get strong again after that’s passed and keep going. Take note of where and when you want to smoke; and avoid it!
Think of your baby and distract your hands and mind with baby things, you can do it!
