Vaginal prolapse

Vaginal prolapse

Hi ladies. I'm really scared so I hope someone can help. I think I might have a small vaginal prolapse there's like a bulge just inside my vagina towards my front. My vagina feels uncomfortable. I think it's been like that for awhile. I've been ignoring it because I'm scared to go get it checked. I hate vaginal exams. My last was traumatic that was 12 years ago. I'm just wondering if ladies here have experienced something similar and can tell me about treatment and pain involving that. Is it common to reoccur again after being fixed? I feel like I'm just going to cry at the doctor and they are just going to look at me funny because apparently vagina prolapses are no big deal 🙄 like how can it not be. Anyone know any good female doctors in Adelaide that are understanding and calm. One that's not going to freak out about vaginal fluid, ignore me when I say it hurts and use cold equipment.

Hi,

I live in Adelaide.

I would have strategy going in of not getting it looked at on your first visit, perhaps book a long appointment so you don't feel rushed. You sound anxious and having a nice chat to get to know the GP that you need to get looked at, but you have some trauma etc. A good GP will help you make a plan for your next appointment.

Id also consider writing down what you want to say, I find when Im anxious about something its hard to get the words out, if I write it down at least I can show people my notes! Although Ive never needed notes with these GPS, they are very caring and understanding.

Find yourself a doctor you feel comfortable with and explain your past trauma and your current concerns. Get a referral to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist. Going by what you describe, it sounds like a potential mild prolapse and with proper guidance from a pelvic floor expert and the right exercises, mild prolapse can be managed well. I'm one week post op from a surgical repair for an extensive posterior prolapse. Please go and see someone.
