Stinky Pete

I got a job a couple of months ago. Iv walked into a supervision roll after not working for 8yrs. How do I bring up hygiene with 1 particular staff member. They are a little bitter Iv walked in and am now their Sr. Yhey missed out on the job. The reasons, mostly to do with their work ethic. They need constant delegation or they just stand there, they call in sick atlease once a week, will take on extra shifts and then the day before just say they can't do it. And when they do a close or open on their own, nothing gets done.

How do I put it, with out seeming like a "B" about Body odour. I don't go to work with a "I'm the boss do as I say" mentality. We are a team, but omg, the Smell. I near chocked today. The manager has said somthing to them in the past. But nothing changed.

This is a managers job, more than a supervisor, especially one that's just started. Your manager should have some experience with complex communication and should be able to approach this without the employee being made to feel like he's being bullied. Bullying can cop your workplace a fine, smelly employees can not.

agree with other commenter, above your pay grade, something your manager/HR should deal with, because if you say something, you may cause more problems to the company than benefits. this is a sensitive issue that needs to be tackled by the higher ups.

I’m currently a manager but I was previously a supervisor who had this buck passed to me far too many times.

I say this from experience. Advocate for yourself!
This is beyond the scope of your responsibilities and I mean this in the nicest way, you’re also not properly equipped to provide this type of feedback if you need the internet’s advice.

It’s your job to report back to the manager not do the yucky parts of their job.
