I am looking at starting to do photography as a stay at home job as I haven't had a lot of luck looking for work and I am passionate about taking photos.
I just want to ask of all the others that have taken this route and set a studio up at home.. Do I need insurance? Should I get an ABN?
I'm on Centrelink.. Do I need to tell them that I am trying to start a business?
I am lost, I am currently just doing freelance work for friends and family but want to start charging people as soon as possible..
If someone could just guide me in the right direction.

You can start charging now. It doesn't become a business until you start earning a certain dollar amount, so you need to tell centrelink until you earn money. You will need to be able to fill in a profit and loss balance sheet for centrelink every few months so you'll need an accountant or you'll have to do yourself. So you might find a book keeping course helpful
