Who has taken their young kids to Fraser Island? Would you recommend it or not? My son is 4 and daughter is 3. We would be camping. Trying to weigh up the pros and cons! Any experiences with dingoes?

We have been many times. Camping on beach, staying at resort and in a holiday house. Will be camping in a camp ground this NY. Currently have 13, 10 & 3 yr olds. Been going there yearly for 7 years.
Never had a problem, dingoes did come wandering through our camp many times. There are dingo safety rules which the Rangers will give you all the info you need to know when you buy your permits. Go for it, you will love it!!!
I stayed at a fully fenced in camping site, it was great (didn't have kids then tho and was 6yrs ago). My only con was the march flies (it was February). They sooo soo many of them until it started to get dark. We quickly worked out they were attracted to dark colours so we stuck to light coloured clothing and it was much better. We found they were all over the island, not sure if it was just the time of year or if that's all year round. Do some research on them and how to repel them before you go as you don't want such little kids getting bitten.
