FTB and change of circumstances.

FTB and change of circumstances.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. I was a working single mum of 3 and received ftb a and b based on my wages alone, no other payments. I will be entering a defacto relationship and of course will have to update our family income to reflect both incomes, I know that we will only be entitled to the base rate from here on out, my concern is that I may have a debt raised for the payments I received from July till now based on at the time my single income. Does anyone know if this is the case? I cannot find any information about changes in circumstances at all.

If you had a pay increase after July you may have been overpaid, but if your pay remained the same as last year it should be fine. If you do have debt they will just take a minimal amount out of your future payments until it is evened up.

Don't think that is the case because your situation is changing as at now, not since July - the income support payments you recieved from July (so single parent payment) up until now will need to be included in your annual income, but it shouldn't mean you'll end up with a debt. Hop on their online calculator, it's the most accurate way of working out what you will receive in ftb in the future :)

I only received FTB a and b, no income support. I'm just worried as it's based on annual income, so when I was alone I received just under full rate of FTB, from July till now based on my income estimate, using the calculators show that will be reduced to the base rate of FTB a and zero b from now on, I'm more worried about incurring a debt for July till now for past payments.

It is highly unlikely, but it usually all gets sorted out at tax time. Please don't worry as it happens a lot with family tax as a a lot of people can't predict there income for the year. But ring them up and ask.

hard to know I can never figure out how they calculate FTB. The only changes I have ever seen actually influence it is the child support, partners income seems to have only impacted my payments not the kids or if it did it was only part B. which makes sense with the funding model with FTB and CS being connected.
