Hi mums :)
We are starting to toilet train our nearly 3 yr old (July) and we are having trouble with getting him to do wees in the toilet. He is obsessed with the movie Cars so we bought undies with the characters on them and have told him they are big boy undies and if he wees in them he will make them very sad. He takes himself to the toilet but nothing happens. He just wets himself while wearing the undies or strips off and stands in the garden.
Thank you :)

Does he know the feeling of needing to go? You need to take him when he feels the urge. What's the signal? some kids squeeze there legs together, some kids tummies look hard, some kids hide, some kids do a little dance, some kids will have a couple of drops of pee on there nickers. When he looks like he needs to go and can't hold on any longer you race him to the toilet to pee. Give him lots of fluid. Stay home and close to a toilet and don't let him out if your sight. Give him a prize when he pees on the loo. Think about if he'll be more comfortable sitting or standing up? Some boys prefer to go straight to standing others sitting. You'll get accidents that's part of training.
Wait till he's three. A lot of kids aren't congnitively ready until 3. Their brains aren't developed enough yet. We tried too early with no luck. Once 3 hit it took 4 weeks max!
We followed our Childcare's advice, put him in undies and put him on the toilet/potty every 45mins. You'll have a few accidents but it won't take him long to get the hang of it.
