Ready for a career

Ready for a career

Hi Ladies,
I'm ready for a career now. I'm done having kids now, I'm ready to go back to work. I don't want just a job, I want a career (if that makes sense). I can have kids and still have a career right?! I don't have a single qualification/certificate etc. Has anyone done FREE online courses they can recommend? Know of any good websites etc for resume writing for a stay at home mum for the past 7 years? I was in admin before kids. Any advice/tips is greatly appreciated!!! Thankyou!!

I have a career and two sons. I've worked full time since they were 1, so yes you can do it!

Start to think about your interests and what it is that makes your soul sing. Is it caring for others? Creating works of art? Or perhaps you have a passion for design and fashion?

Write down what it is that interests you and the courses that can get you on your way. I'd stay clear of the professional resume writers and google a good recruitment agency like Hays that can help assist you with writing a good resume.

Use your time as a SAHM to your advantage. Did you volunteer at school? I bet you are great at multi tasking, highlight that. Be prepared to do a job that will get you on your way such as retail etc to get some work experience and pay for your studies.

Good luck!

If you're not keen on paying for a course, why not get a job in an area that you feel passionate about, and look into whether your employer would pay (or part pay) for you to enrol in a course that would help you advance further in that line of work. Everybody wins - you get a decent qualification while being paid, and your employer gets to keep a decent employee and watch you advance through the ranks :)

Ofcourse you can have children and have a career. Not all of us cchoose to be stay at home mums for the rest of our lives. Look up "careerline courses". Not free.. but you can pay them off while youre studying. Mine was about $50 per fortnight. Good luck
