Breast feeding/ weaning blues.

Breast feeding/ weaning blues.

Hi imperfect Mummys,
Im writing to get some advice and just to get things off my chest.
So my daughter is 1.5 years old and she is still "semi breast fed" its not that she needs it obviously she eats very well she only uses it as a comfort.
It hasnt worried me to much that she still Likes it but now im finding myself telling people shes weaned even thoufh shes not just so people dont judge me.
Literally everyone apart from my partner thought it was terrible I was still fedding her at 1. I know she has to be weaned sooner rather then later but it breaks my heart taking it off her.
Im just wondering if there is anyway I can just dry up my milk so she just can't get anything anymore? Also who else breast fed for so long?
Thanks ladies.

My daughters were 2.5 and 3 before they were weaned. The 2.5 i ended up putting soy sauce on my nipples for a week as the smell put her off. Tried tjat for the seconnd and didn't work she ended up weaning herself

My little guy is nearly 3 and still breastfed at bedtime. I do it because he likes it and it's good for him. The World Health Organisation recommends to breastfeed until at least 2 years.
I know I may get a few people offside but it is still beneficial to breastfeed past infancy as kids immune systems aren't fully functioning until 5-7 years old and breastmilk contains a lot of antibodies. A lot of cultures feed well past 1 and there are a lot of support groups around in Australia. There is also growing scientific evidence to support multiple reasons to continue breastfeeding past infancy.
A lot of people do it but don't admit it, because it's frowned upon in western culture.
Good on you!
