Between 4 to 6 months, when baby shows an interest in food, can hold head and neck up on their own and has lost the tongue thrust reflex :)

My son started at around 12 weeks.
And my daughter has good head control at times she's still s little wobbly she's 2 months now. I'm just not sure about starting her as early as her brother because she was premature. But I didn't know about the tongue thrust rule. Which she does alot !! So just wait until she seems to not do that so often ?

Yes, I wouldn't start before the recommended 4 months, due to choking risk and immature gut :)

On a midwife's recommendation, I waited until almost 6 months and started him on finger foods instead of purees.

6 months and started on mostly finger foods. Never gave rice cereal - it's basically sugar. If you want to start on a cereal, quick oats are a good alternative.

Son (1) was 8 weeks, daughter (2) was 9 weeks and son (3) was 10 weeks. Yes I know this is against guidelines, but all 3 of mine were hungry babies and so gave them baby rice/ rusks to fill them up once a day. Each baby is different and will want solids at different ages. All mine are great eaters and have no issues with being fed early. It was either that or 2-3 bottles each feed and they were on the hungry babies formula (didn't make enough breast milk to fill them and I tried to express which didn't happen as there was no milk)

3 of my 4 kids suffer GORD (reflux) and I was advised to start them on solid from as early as 3 months if they could handle it. My other child didn't start solids until 6 months.
